Geocache Description:

The Pederick Stump Rake

These rakes, made in the wheat belt of Western Australia, once played an integral part in clearing Mallee Scrub.
Many thousands of acres were chained, burnt, and then ploughed to remove the stumps  enabling  the land to be planted with cereal crops and pastures.
Once the stumps were pulled from the ground they were then raked into rows by this machine and usually burnt.
It is ironic that  Mallee Stumps were burnt by the millions of tons where they lay, but now sell at a premium price in the wood yards of our major towns and cities.
