Geocache Description:

The cache is located  close to a deserted village which is an excellent spot for a picnic.
It is accessible to saloon cars due to construction of a new road into the area.

The site is mentioned in Ionis Thompsons "Desert treks from Riyadh" which she describes as Turkish forts - and replaces the now archived GCB1F7 cache.

Saloon cars can easily reach the area and park within 75 meters of the cache - although a 4X4 is required to travel further up the track (which is the remains of one of the old caravan routes) towards the fossil beds at the base of the escarpment, it is no longer possible to drive up the escarpment as the track has been destroyed, but you can walk up.

In the immediate area of the cache are good examples of a Nejd village with its fortified stronghold, a farmhouse with towers and stone lined well and further watchtowers on the high ground.

According to an Arabic online forum article we found (visit link) the site was home to Yahya ibn Taleb Al Hanafi, and he is apparently mentioned in the Koran. He fled from his home of Al Barah to Iraq, the reason he ran away is unclear, where he wrote many poems describing how he missed his homeland (though the Google translation is not very accurate).

The cache gets its name from a trough (probably for watering animals) which is close to the cache.
