Geocache Description:

A 'newly' placed historical marker along the Ft. Leavenworth - Ft. Riley Trail. This marker commemorates some of the first settlers in the Blue River Valley, circa 1853, and also some of the early history of nearby Manhattan. Rather than spelling it all out here, please come visit!

You're looking for a partially cammoed Lock-n-Lock-like container with some swag and an FTF prize. This one's not too far from pavement, but it is a Flint Hills dirt road with conditions depending on, well...conditions. The main road is usually quiet, but can get busy from time to time. You should be able to see and hear traffic coming early enough to assume the visiting tourist stealth position, and/or put on a dust mask. A safe pullout for parking is very nearby. This is not a road and is gated with a wire rope. Please do not enter the field nor cross any fences. The marker is maintained a bit, but seems a likely spot for all kinds of flora and fauna to hang out. Should be pretty easy to get to, although there is a watch-that-first-step hole that I usually find. Enjoy, and I have a feeling many will experience one of those "OH, so THAT'S where those names came from" moments.
