Park at Trecarne before the ford. Cross the river and head through the gate and up the Path. When you get to a wooden direction sign, turn left. It is also only a short walk from the Carwether Geocache. Cache is a small clip lock box. Room for swaps, coins and Travel Bugs. Dogs need to be on leads.
My Grandad lived at nearby Michaelstow but when he left school he went to work as a farm labourer at nearby Trecarne. He knew this area well and would often bring me here to Devil's Jump
The first time I came here i was roughly 8 yrs old. I had been reading The Hobbit. The whole area was how I'd imagined Middle earth must have looked with the stunning views, strange rock formations and eerie caves. It still to this day conjoures up images of Hobbits, Orcs and Smaug the Dragon.
When i was placing the cache and looked at the nearby cave it occured to me that if there is a Beast of Bodmin moor this would be a prime location for a large cats den.

Devil's Jump is my favourite part of Bodmin Moor. I hope you enjoy it too.
