KAS #32 - Old Yeller Engineering Mystery Cache
Tom.dog: This is one of many of my Kansas geocaches that I have decided to decommission. This is a bittersweet move; I hold the memories of hiding all of these caches over past summers near-and-dear, but I also cannot deny that I am unable to provide the time and energy required to keep these in tip-top shape for years to come. My visits to this area are shorter and more sporadic than they once were and tend to be more focused on spending time with family closer to the house instead of geocaching. It’s probably no secret that these caches have suffered from neglect as a result.
I wish to extend my sincere thanks to anyone who has replaced the containers or logs over the years to keep things going - your help has not gone unnoticed! Thanks as well to all of those who made the journey to these various caches - I hope that they were as fun to find as they were to hide.
I have removed containers wherever I could find them. It was difficult to tell at some locations if a cache was missing or if it had just been replaced in a different spot than the original. I have done what I can to make sure that no clutter is left behind.

KAS - Kansas Adventure Series
This cache is not at the listed coordinates! You will need to solve the puzzle below to get your name on the log!
I have noted that this part of Kansas doesn't deal with many puzzle caches. I will try to put a few more out in order to train everyone up to some higher solving levels. From where I live in Colorado, puzzles like this one are on the scale of super-easy. If you need a hint, please feel free to contact me! I'm always happy to help!
For the naming on this cache, it is near something old n' yeller and placed adjacent to an engineering survey disk.
The puzzle:
I woke up one dark morning at 3. It felt like the perfect day to take on an adventure in caching. Since it was so early, I needed to get myself woken up a bit. 7 cups of coffee, that I drank in 7 minutes, did the trick. I took a look at my laptop and realized that 3 new caches had come up last night, and each had 0 finds still. At the possibility of getting 3 FTFs, I had downloaded the caches, loaded my backpack, and was in the car in a mere 9 minutes! To get to the first cache was a short drive, and I swung by it in a matter of 7 minutes. Ok, maybe I had to speed a bit... It was at an electrical box, and it took me a total of 4 minutes to find it (darn magnetic nanos again!). 1 FTF down. 9 minutes later I drove up to a popular hiking trail. Glad that I had brought my backpack with 2 bottles of water, it was getting hot already in the dark hours. The hike to the next cache was pleasant, though it took a while, and I saw 4 deer on my way down, 5 rabbits, and 0 caribou in the morning light (I don't think that even 2 Caribou would live around here). I found the cache, an ammo can in a hollow log, and it had 9 travel bugs inside, all of which I took to move along. The next 3 hours were spent hiking back to my car. When I got there, I hit the 7-digit combo lock on the door, and headed off to the last cache, hoping that no cacher had found it in the 9 long hours since it's publication. 0 cars were on the road now, they must have been eating their late breakfast. 6 miles later I found a cemetery on the West side of the road, and it looked to have 8 tombstones in it and 1 cache! But then, disaster struck, as I spent 9 minutes trying to open the chain link gate. I finally got it open, ran inside, and began searching in the 8 cedar trees in a row on the back fence. In tree 7 I caught a glimpse of some camouflage tape, and had the pill bottle cache out of it's spot in 3 seconds. It had 4 log sheets stapled together, and I signed the FTF spot. What a great day that was!
Please see the description for KAS #1 - Enclosure (GC2X8VP) for more information of the series and what you will need to bring.
For this KAS cache you are looking for a blue plastic mayo jar.
