Geocache Description:

Cache # 48.

The Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is a wonderful cycling trail between Wangaratta and Bright, with a side track running from Everton Station to Beechworth.  The trail is suitable for road bikes.

These are essentially caches placed for cyclists using the trail but there is easy parking for cars at each GZ.

This cache is placed at the site of the old Gapsted Station.  I had been told there was a huge old pine tree at the site and I have been looking for this spot for a long time.  Riding the trail recently I finally spotted it.  Behind the tree there are quite a few shrubs and trees that may well have been part of an old garden associated with railway buildings.  There is nothing left these days except from the very battered tree and slightly raised earthworks where the platform would have been.  An interesting spot nonetheless.
The cache contains log book and some swaps. Please bring your own PEN.
