The wood is about two acres and there is a path roughly around the perimeter about 1km length.
The area near the reserve is called Honor Oak, and takes its name from the Oak of Honor at the top of the nature reserve. There are many myths and stories about the Oak, but the tree currently at the top of the hill was planted about 100 years ago - so a relatively young oak. It marks the position of an earlier tree, which was probably a "boundary oak" which was used to mark a parish boundary. in this case the parish of Camberwell.
