Geocache Description:

This is the fifth of a series of caches highlighting historic places in Washington, Missouri.

At the cache location you can see the Beyreis-Godt House. It is the oldest remaining building in Washington and dates to 1835. Recently the building has served as the offices of the Washington Downtown Inc. Completed in 1922, the building at the corner of Second and Lafayette serves as a post office. Originally there was lookout extending from the basement to the roof so that inspectors could spy on the clerks. Today, the building is owned by the Washington Downtown Inc. and it continues to be a full service post office for the town of Washington.

Now that you have found this cache, locate the the Memorial Garden stone a few yards away from the first location discussed above and add all the numbers in the date to calculate the check sum (x+x+x+x+x+x=D). Plug in for letter D in the finale cache "I Didn't Know That." Then head toward the Post Office and locate the street address of that building and calculate the check sum (x+x+x=C). Place the answer for letter C in the finale cache "I Didn't Know That."
