[NO] Moloen i Svolvær er en gigantisk konstruksjon for beskyttelse av havnen og selve byen. På de fleste dagene i året er det vanskelig å forestille seg at en så solid barriere er nødvendig, men innbyggerne her vet bedre. Denne delen av Norge har jevnlig noe av det verste været som kan forestilles. Det er mulig at de tøffe forholdene også har vært inspirasjon for oppføringen av "Fiskerkona"-monumentet på den ytterste holmen utenfor moloen. Moloen kan nok ikke skryte av å være en attraksjon i seg selv, men byr likevel på fantastiskt flotte utsikter mot havet og de ​​fjellrike omgivelsene rundt Svolvær, og over havnen.

Den beste måten å nærme seg moloen er til fots, og turen gjennom byen og over Svinøya bru er en av de mest populære spatserturene i området, både for turister og lokalbefolkning. På Kjeøya - også kalt Kuba - vil man se rester av bunkersystemene fra okkupasjonsmakten under andre verdenskrig. Du kan også kjøre till moloen med bil, men grusveien på øyene er i svært dårlig tilstand, og det er egentlig ikke anbefalt (se waypoint for parkering). Spatserturen fram til chachen er enkel med kun litt stigning over bruen. Men helt på slutten blir det litt mere vanskelig siden det er ulent terreng der.

[ENG] The Breakwater in Svolvær is a gigantic man-made construction for the protection of the harbour and the town itself. On most days of the year it is hard to imagine that such a sturdy barrier is required, but the locals know better. This part of Norway regularly sees some of the worst weather imaginable. Maybe the harsh conditions have also been the inspiration for the erection of the “Fiskerkona” (Fisherman’s Wife) monument on the outermost islet at the very end of the breakwater. The Breakwater is not much of an attraction in itself, but offers excellent scenery of the archipelago and the mountainous surroundings of Svolvær, as well as of the harbour.

The best way to approach The Breakwater is by foot, and the walk through the town and over the Svinöya bridge is one of the most popular excursions in the area, for tourist and locals alike. At the very end, on the Kjeöya - also called Cuba, you will see the remnants of the bunker systems of the occupational forces from the WW2. You may also approach The Breakwater by car but the dirt road on the islands is in a very bad condition and it is not really recommended (see parking waypoint). The walk up to the cache is easy, with only some elevation over the bridge. Close to the cache the approach is a bit more difficult in the rough terrain among the rocks.

The cache contains the log, a pencil, eye drops, and a few other objects.
