The City of Mountain View just recently completed an extension of the Permamente Creek Trail with a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Highway 101 and a tunnel under Old Middlefield Road. This adds another much needed access to Shoreline Park and the bayland recreation trails north of the freeway. While this spot may look like a "waste of taxpayer money" dead end, in the master plan for the Permanente Creek Trail, it will continue beyond this point and connect with W. Middlefield Road, allowing needed access for bicycles and pedestrians to trails north of Hwy 101. Work is expected to begin in early 2013.
