On the evening of 1stMarch 2012 three rhinoceros were poached at Kariega Game Reserve, Eastern Cape, South Africa. One of the Rhinos died on the scene and the other two, a male and female, survived. Over the next few weeks a team of specialists, volunteers and Kariega Game rangers led by Dr Fowlds, treated the two surviving rhinoceros. The employees and rangers named them Themba (the male) and Thandiswa ( the female - Thandi for short). On the 26thMarch 2012 Themba passed away, unable to recover from his injuries. THANDI, the survivor, is doing exceptionally well. We thought it appropriate to place a cache at Kariega Game Reserve and do so with permission.
