Here was said that the kappa appeared at one time. Please bring your pen.
Once upon a time, it was said here that the kappa drew in the horse to the lake when putting the horse on a tether in the nearby tree to have the horse bathe. One day, the kappa tried to sink the horse in the lake. But the kappa was pulled by the horse, and the kappa has hung on to villagers at last. The villager tied the kappa to the big pine tree (This tree exists still). The kappa apologized for a crime while crying.
Afterwards, a lot of Kunimasu trout came to be able to capture in Lake Tazawa, and this place was called "Kappa no fuchi (kappa pool)".
By the way, Kunimasu trout has died out because strong acid water was poured in Lake Tazawa in 1940 though the Kunimasu trout lived only in Lake Tazawa. Now Kunimasu trout is living in Nishiko in Yamanashi Prefecture that discharged the fertilized egg in 1935.

ここは，かつてカッパが現れたと言われていたところです。ペンをご持参ください。
昔々ここでは，馬を水浴びさせようと近くの木に馬をつないでおくと，カッパが手綱を解いて湖の中に引き込んでしまうと言われていました。
ある日，カッパが馬を引き込もうとした所，逆に馬にひっぱられてしまい，とうとう村人たちにつかまってしまいました。村人はカッパを大きな松の木に縛りつけました（この木は今でもあります）。カッパは泣きながら，これまでの悪事を詫びました。
その後，ここでは，たくさんのクニマスが獲れるようになり，その場所はカッパ淵と呼ばれるようになりました。
さて，そのクニマスは，田沢湖にしか棲んでいませんでしたが，昭和15年，田沢湖に強酸性の水を導入したため，死滅してしまいました。現在クニマスは，かつて受精卵の放流が行われた山梨県の西湖で見ることができます。
