Yorkshire Yellow: I'm afraid that this one has gone. As I'm not placing any more micros of this type, it's being archived.

Geocache Description:

What should be a relatively quick and easy multi cache located in a little known park a short distance from Cheltenham town centre.

Cachers of shorter stature may struggle to retrieve this one.

Winston Churchill Memorial Garden is a small urban park discreetly tucked behind the Lower High Street shops. The gardens have a number of historical elements such as the formal rose garden, pergola, clipped yew avenue and St Mary's Mission building. It is still possible to see some of the headstones along the northern perimeter wall.

The gardens started life as a cemetery when the Parish Vestry acquired a small orchard on the southern side of the lower high street for use as a new burial ground between May 1830 and January 1831. The ground was cleared, leveled and enclosed by a perimeter wall.

St. Mary's mission was built in 1831 to serve the new burial ground and the building is now a Grade II Listed Building. It remained in use until 1864 when the new cemetery opened in Prestbury.

Following a period of neglect, the cemetery was purchased by the council in 1965 and developed into a garden. Most of the tombstones were cleared at this time but some are still visible.

The childrens play area was created in 1990 with help from pupils at Gloucester Road Primary School.

Stage 1
You should see an information plaque on the park entrance.
Convert the date the park was opened to numeric format, i.e. 1st January 2012 would be 01-01-2012.
Let the date be AB-CD-EFGH.
The next question can be found at N51° D4.AG(H/2) W002° 0D.C(G-E)(A+H).

Stage 2
You should now be looking at some information about the former use of the park.
Convert the date of the first burial to the same format as used above.
The cache can be found at N51° 54.(A+E)BD W002° C5.C2D.
