This is my first cache and I wanted to bring you somewhere special. It is a simple hide but please respect the beautiful woodland and leave nothing but foot prints.
Here at Coed Hafod I have seen many birds whilst out birdwatching. These include the magnificent Redstart, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Treecreeper and Nuthatch. It is such a peaceful place to listen to the birdsong and relax.
Nearby Betws-y-Coed is a popular and attractive town tucked in the valley. There are many B&Bs just off the main road in Lôn Muriau before you reach the Waterloo Bridge and rivers. Up on the hill behind is Capel Garmon where there is a Burial Chamber and great views from the top. This is a Beautiful area on a Hill, you could even say in Welsh that this is Bryn Bella.
Parking can be found in the layby alongside the A470 and from here there is a kissing gate and footpath which leads through the woods. Please stick to the marked footpath and watch out for mud, cattle, stiles and midges at different times of the year.
The cache is NOT placed in any of the walls you see here. I am not sure what the ruins are but Hafod can translate as Summer House into English. I like to think that whoever constructed the building saw the same beauty that I do when I come here.
Please DO NOT move any STONES in the WALLS or RUINS and search carefully. The cache is hidden carefully and blends in with the environment. I did have a bit of trouble with the GPS signal due to the tree cover.
Enjoy this peaceful area and please remember to hide the cache well.
