PT 12 Magnesium Traditional Cache

Balayang: ### Cache Maintenance Visit Required please.###
This geocache has been brought to my attention as needing an Owner Maintenance visit, as the logs indicate that it is most likely missing, or else some other problem exists with the cache. See the GCHQ Health Score process.
It certainly needs to be checked by the Cache Owner.

The cache owner needs to:

  • Take action to restore the cache or address issues such as correcting the D/T rating, or the posted coordinates.
  • Re-enable the cache by posting an Enable log
  • Post an Owner Maintenance log to advise what has been done and to clear any Needs Maintenance attribute that is present.

Otherwise :
* Post a Note Log to request more time if necessary or provide other information.
**Do not use an Owner Maintenance log for this. That is for use only when you actually do something to repair the cache.

Alternatively:

  • Archive the cache and remove any remaining geo-litter from the site.

In the meantime, I've temporarily disabled the cache page to await owner action by Leg5 and to take it off the playing board to prevent further inconvenience to our Geocaching Community.

Please see the maintenance section of the Geocache Hiding Guidelines.

I will check back in 30 days to see that action has been taken by the CO.
If nothing has happened, I will conclude that the cache has been abandoned, and, unfortunately, I will need to Archive this cache.
Caches archived because of lack of maintenance/abandonment will not be unarchived.

The Geocaching Community needs to have a degree of certainty that a cache is in good condition and waiting to be found, and the CO has a responsibility to maintain their caches.

Please see my profile page for additional information.
Thank you

Geocache Description:

17/08/2018 Update: The period table series will now be maintained by a series of cachers. Lachlan1.77 will take over maintenance for PT12 to PT19. Thanks to BlaKids for their work in maintaining the series.

Welcome to the periodic table of the elements powered trail. There will be 113 caches to each represent each element on the periodic table (until new elements are added). For simplicity sake only elements approved by the “International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry” will be included in this series.

The cache containers are small tubes as shown in the picture below

These containers have only a logbook inside them and no pen/pencil. Please make sure to bring a pen.

Magnesium is a grayish-white, fairly tough metal. Magnesium is the eighth most abundant element in the earth's crust although not found in it's elemental form. It is a Group 2 element (Group IIA in older labelling schemes). Group 2 elements are called alkaline earth metals. Magnesium metal burns with a very bright light. Source: Webelements.

This power trail starts at Mount Henry Bridge and continues south down the freeway cyclepath. This power trail is designed for bicycles or walkers and will be extremely hard, if not impossible for drivers. There is however a car park and a playground near the start.

Please stay safe and enjoy the power trail.
