Geocache Description:

This cache is to commemorate the Still Crazy 2012 reunion that will happen on July 27 and 28, 2012. Hello to all who have attended and to those that are not able to come and see old friends from back in the 60's.

Once upon a time, in Liverpool ... a small mill town, perched on the edge of the sea... like millions of other towns all around the western world, life as we'd known it changed drastically, in what seemed like the blink of an eye. In fact, it was more like the flick of a button, as kids everywhere turned on their tv's to catch favourite shows and cranked up the volume on their record players, rocking to the pounding rhythms of a new kind of sound. They sat glued to the b&w, every Sunday, as Ed Sullivan thrust the Beatles, The Stones, The Animals and dozens of other engaging, electrifying and ultimately life changing bands, onto an unsuspecting world. As mass media took hold and became the storytellers of our time, nothing was ever the same again. World politics, protests and wars spilled into our daily lives, mixed with bold new fashions, celebrity and amazing social changes that turned everything we'd known, upside down. As events and images pressed themselves into our lives, our living rooms and into our youthful psyches, even those tucked away on the edge of the sea, in a quiet, conservative, small town like ours were not safe from the bombardment of rapidly imploding changes taking place around us. Music became the message and the messenger... it was what gave meaning and a voice to our thoughts, feelings, desires and frustrations... it became the heart and centerpiece of our time. Here, on quaint and peaceful streets, deep in the basements and garages of solid, gracious homes, brave young fellows brewed up their own version of this new music and hit the stages of our schools, halls and rinks, while others came out in throngs to applaud their efforts... to listen as they belted out heartfelt renditions of favourite songs... dancing before them in mini skirts, maxi coats or barefoot with bell bottoms, hair flying and hearts beating fast, knowing they were part of something very special. So let us revisit those days... meet up with good friends, past & present, and let's gather once again, in front of those old bands.... come hear Melody Fair, Some of Sandy Road, Dave Dobson & Dave Gallant, Sulah and Rosalee Peppard, as they perform those old favourites... songs embedded forever in our souls. Let's share our memories... and dance like there's no tomorrow... just glorious yesterdays. If you are "Still Crazy After All These Years", we look forward to seeing you for a weekend to remember.
