Geocache Description:

Fox's Challenge

Oh, my; they're multiplying!!!

I recently saw a cache in Colorado called Animal Crackers. You had to find a certain number of caches with an animal in its name. I thought this was fun, but wanted to make something a little more silly and in theme for the recent 30K event.

To complete this challenge, have a cumulative total of 50 caches found that mention foxes in the name, in any language: fox, vulpe, kitsune (狐), reynard, yeou (여우), huli jing (狐狸精), fennec, etc. Fictional languages do not count; sorry sci-fi and "anything goes Scrabble" fans. (Due to some cachers' very loose interpretation of the language clause, please see October's clarification.) I considered setting the number at three times the number of fox species, but 63 would be harder for some people to remember.

The final cache is a short hike into the woods. There are a few places with poison ivy, but you can easily go around. As I placed this cache in the rain, you're looking for something that isn't even cammoed; please rehide it properly. The cache is on the larger side of small, but just a tad smaller than an ammo can.

Clarification (2013-10-31):

It has come to my attention there are a few people that either don't like clear and simple requirements or prefer to reinterpret these requirements until they match some preferred notion and, in doing so, strip out their original intent. For those of you that fall into these categories, I now present what I thought I wouldn't have to say: the full rules.

-- If you choose to use the foreign language provision, the cache's word must be in the same language as the word for "fox". For example, "rev" or Norwegian for "fox", but you cannot use the word "reverend" because the fox word does not match the full word.
-- The "in any language" mention in the requirements meant you were allowed to use caches from other countries when the name referred to the animal.
-- The qualifying word must make reference to the animal. For example, if the word "wolfox" existed and the word meant a hybrid between a wolf and an ox, you would not be able to use the word. However, "foxy" makes reference to the animal, so this would is fine.
-- If you choose to use the foreign language provision, the language will be determined by the following rule: if the description and full title are in the same language, that's the only language you can use. If the title is completely in one language, that's the only language you can use. If the title is in two languages, such as "The Friendly Kitsune", we will look at it in the obvious context. In this case, the word "kitsune" does not exist in English, so Japanese will be used for this word while English for everything else. If "Pipe Cache Rev 2" is the name, "rev" is clearly used in the English context of the word "revision", so this cache does not qualify.

-- As with any challenge cache, you do have the option of asking the owner to clarify the requirements. This does not excuse you from failing to meet them. The cache owner will be, of course, the judge.
-- Once the issue with the current finders' rule abuse is resolved, the number of caches needed to fulfill the requirements will be decreased.
