Geocache Description:

NB! PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE LOGGING THE ACTUAL CACHE, AT THE GIVEN CO-ORDINATES, AND NOT THE VISITORS DIARY SOME 20 METERS AWAY. THE CACHE IS HIDDEN UNDER A ROCK, AND THE CO-ORDINATES ARE CORRECT.
[ENG] Kvalvika (“Whale Bay”) is a very special place, and most people find that the green valley with the wide stretched beach, the sand dunes, and the constant sound of the waves rolling in, have a magical quality to it. I fell in love with this place when I first came here in the beginning of the 1980’s, and it is likely that you will do the same.

There are no organized boat trips to Kvalvika and the only way to get there is by foot (it will take you about an hour). The hike starts at the parking place (see waypoint) close to Fredvang and is a proper Lofoten mountain hike, although the maximum altitude in this case is only 200 meters. The trail is sometimes very wet, and involves quite a lot of steep and rocky terrain. You need to be sure footed and properly shod. To reach the cache you have to get all the way down to the beach. The cache is a 0.7 liter waterproof container.
