On my way home from a recent hiking/camping/geocaching expedition in Kansas/Colorado/Nebraska. Out picking up caches for those states' respective County Challenges as well. Passing through the local area and noticed that this cemetery no longer has a cache placed inside. Nice little spot. Adding to my REAPER series.
There used to be a cache hidden at this site along the southern tree line but the cache is longer and was archived for whatever reason. Always thought that this was a nice cemetery.
This spot brought back some memories for when I first started geocaching, this was one of the 1st 25 or so finds for me. At time of my visit (January 2010) the gravel road leading to cemetery was covered with about 3" of ice; the sides of the road had snow drifts about as tall as my little pick-up truck; and at GZ there was a snow drift that had to be crossed in order to get to cache. I sank up to my armpits in that snow drift and trying to get out of that was an adventure in itself. Eventually found the cache roughly 30' from GZ.
Cemetery is located north of the town of Randolph, KS. Travel north/south on US Hwy 77 and turn east onto Rose Hill Road (Riley County Road 897N). Travel on this well maintained gravel road for about 3 miles or so. Eventually you'll come to an intersection with Hall's Ravine Road (7600W Road). At this intersection on the SW corner is a historical marker for the Rose Hill School District (see photo marked Rose Hill School). Anyway, travel north on Hall's Ravine Road for roughly 1/2 mile or so; cemetery will be on east side of road.
Cache container is a SMALL DECON.
This is a cemetery so please observe any/all rules/regulations that may be posted and that we all have read on other page write-ups concerning cemeteries.
