The event will keep to the established KT formula of food, drink and geochat, with an optional walk around the area at around 21:00.
The Ship Inn is a picturesque, 350 year old pub is situated in the National Trust Village of Styal. The pub was once known as the 'Shippon', a farm building used to store manure, but became the Ship Inn when the farmer who owned it started brewing for the local people. It is located on Altrincham Road which used to be a busy through route. After a bit of a battle, the development of Runway 2 chopped the road in two.
Quarry Bank Mill is well worth a visit if you’ve got some spare time before the event.
The Menu hopefully offers something suitable for everyone who wants to eat. It would appear that Wednesday is the 2 burgers for £11.00 night!
Please note that the kitchen closes at 20:00 sharp. As we will be a large group, they have requested that those wishing to eat order their grub by 19:30 to prevent a mad rush in the kitchen just as it’s about to close.
The event will follow the tried and tested order of play, namely:
18:00 - Drive by caching in the local area on the way to the event.
19:00 - Meet at pub for beer, geochat and food.
19:30 - Last orders for food please!
21:00 - A walk in the surrounding area.
22:00 onwards - More Beer and geochat.
We have got both the Front Room and the Pilot Suite reserved at the present time.
There is a good sized car park just past the pub and the adjacent restaurant, not far from the homes of Styal Football Club, Styal Tennis Club and Styal Cricket Club. Styal railway station is only a couple of minutes walk away, with Styal Golf Club located a bit further down Station Road.
Anyone caught mishandling trackables or rushing off anywhere for an individual FTF will be immediately dispatched to Styal Prision!
The pub is more than happy to accommodate well behaved geo-kids as after all, it is the summer holidays! They are not that keen on dogs with there being lots of food served, so it’s probably best for the geo-dogs to be left at home.
