Geocache Description:

Looks like there used to be a cache here called "Yanker's Tribute" GCRYYK. It had gone missing and archived. This area truly needs a cache so people will stop by.

The following text is from the previous cache mentioned above: "The drive up Pine Canyon to Waterville in the 1950’s and 1960’s was a long and hot drive in the summer. Often cars would make it half-way before over heating and needed to pull over and let their cars cool down.

In 1955 Louis F. Yonker planted 3 trees and put in a drinking fountain from a spring close by. The drinking fountain is no longer useable, but is a nice place to pull over and take in the view. There is only 2 of the 3 original trees still living on the side of the road and they are looking pretty old.

There is a small monument with a plaque explaining all about his tribute. It was 50 years ago when he planned this, and on a hot day it was appreciated."

This is really an awesome spot to stop at. When I am here I think about the cars in the 1950's coming up the old dirt road, up the canyon and the people stoping by here.

Please be sure to cover the cache back up really well. It looks like the previous cache here was smaller and went missing a few times. The new one is a medium-large container (big enough for travelers). So please make sure it gets covered up so it doesnt get muggled.

Thanks! I hope you enjoy this spot as much as I do. HAPPY CACHING!!!

There is a FTF smiley face pin in the log for the FTF.

Congrats to Mr. Gadget #2 and medicrncen for the co- FTF!!
