A new access point to the Brays Bayou Hike and Bike Trail.
BAYOU VIEW At this cache you can see more of the recreational improvements being made on Brays Bayou. This is a new pedestrian/bicycle bridge from the Robindell Subdivision to the bayou Hike and Bike Trail. The trail now runs from the Southwest Tennis Center at the west end to McGregor Park on the east end. It intersects with the Columbia Tap Trail which will take you to the east side of down town Houston. The hiking/biking trail has numerous caches along it-on both the trail side and the opposite side. The bridge offers some nice views down into the bayou. With a concrete bottom it is not like a true natural area but still not bad to an old West Texas boy (anything looks good with water in it). Twenty to Twenty Five years ago there was virtually no life in the bayou waters. Over the intervening years more and more fish have appeared followed by more and more birds. You now see herons, egrets, cormorants, ospreys and of course the omnipresent pigeons and grackles. The fish, probably carp, are numerous all up and down the bayou. They really like to feed on the concrete apron in the bottom when it has water on it. There are many more caches up and down the bayou. Some are right on the trail while others make you cross the bayou to the other side. This trail offers a great hiking or biking experience coupled with the chance to grab a bunch of geocaches. Enjoy the trail and have fun finding the caches. Congratulations to .jpeg for FTF. Bring your own pen.
