Geocache Description:

A walk through Holywell Dene and surounding area. With seventeen caches, plus a bonus cache (numbered to make route easier). Also the option of a further four caches located close to, or on route. Suzie was our family pet who loved coming on this walk, for many years.

Currently owened by descendants of the Delaval family, Holywell Dene was conferred to one, Hubert De la Val, who came to Britain with the army of William the Conqueror in 1066. The family were colourful additions to the North East of England and the ancestors of the Dene's current owner, Lord Hastings, were politicians, courtiers, farmers, industrialists, soldiers, academics and entertainers.The family were key to the development of Hollwell Dene over centuries. ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ small bison contains log only, please bring your own pen/pencil.
