Geocache Description:

This is the bonus cache for the 'Parnholt' series which is an off-road loop (walk or ride) of just over 7 miles through some fabulous Hampshire countryside, taking in panoramic views, Parnholt wood and a section of the Clarendon Way. (see 1. Parnholt (GC3PXNE)for full details of the series).

*** UPDATED 25th October 2020 with new numbers and co-ords due to the original bonus cache mysteriously disappearing ***
*** UPDATED June 2015 - slight renumbering of the series to include a few of the other caches enroute and a couple of new ones, this Bonus cache however remains the same ***

The co-ordinates above are not where the bonus cache is but they will take you to the 'Horse Monument' which is well worth a look. The pyramidial-shaped monument has a plaque explaining the following:

"Underneath lies buried a horse, the property of Paulet St. John Esq., that in the month of September 1733 leaped into a chalk pit twenty-five feet deep afoxhunting with his master on his back and in October 1734 he won the Hunters Plate on Worthy Downs and was rode by his owner and was entered in the name of "Beware Chalk Pit"."

The views here are stunning on a clear day and it's an ideal place to sit and work out the bonus cache location (you can take a seat inside the monument if the weather is inclement).

To find the bonus cache, you need to collect the [updated] numbers allocated to letters in some of the cache logbooks on the 'Parnholt' loop (1 to 19) - not all caches have bonus clues. The cache, which is a small clip-lock container in a camo bag, is located at:

N51 AB.ED(B+C)
W001 FG.(F+J)H(I-B)

Just as a check, the numbers A to E should add up to 19, and the numbers F to J should add up to 20.

The cache is within a half-mile radius of the above co-ordinates.
