Geocache Description:

A walk through Holywell Dene and surounding area. With seventeen caches, plus a bonus cache (numbered to make route easier). Also the option of a further four caches located close to, or on route. Suzie was our family pet who loved coming on this walk, for many years.

Dairy House, a farmstead which has long disappeared from the landscape, was located close to, the cache, the point where the waggonway from Hester Pit (New Hartley) curved sharply from its south-easterly course to pursue a north-easterly route towards Seaton Sluice. ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ A polished stone axe was found in 1963, approximately 850ft North West of the cache. Stone axes like this were made during the Neolithic period (4000BC/2500BC). ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ Small container, please bring your own pen/pencil. Congrats to tads10 on FTF.
