Geocache Description:

A walk through Holywell Dene and surounding area. With seventeen caches, plus a bonus cache (numbered to make route easier). Also the option of a further four caches located close to, or on route. Suzie was our family pet who loved coming on this walk, for many years.

The cache is located on the waggonway of the Blyth and Tyne Railway, Avenue Branch Line. Opened in 1860, it linked Hartley to Tynemouth. It was absorbed by the North Eastern Railway in 1874, and later into the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER), in 1923. The LNER was a railway of contrasts. It was the second largest "Big Four" company in terms of route miles, but was also the poorest. It was famous for its prestigious high speed trains, but gained a lot of its income from the coal fields of North East England. ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ Beware ! Popular track for cyclists ! Don't get muggled ! ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼After this one you may like to try GC2J60Z SCIURUS CAROLINENSIS and/or GC2TPVD LEO'S REVENGE, before moving onto #12 ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼Disco style container, please bring your own pen/pencil and tweezers. Congrats to tads10 on FTF.
