A Bird's Paradise Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bushwalker53: With a heavy heart I'm sad to say this cache is no longer viable. I had to sneak in past the big imposing fence tonight to retrieve it and discovered the rope had finally rotted away. It's had a good run! I could hide it further down the hill but it'd be a lot more visible down there and would most likely get muggled. Thanks to all who found it through the years. The old birdhouse now resides in a tree in my backyard.

Geocache Description:

A great walk up the hill to an interesting cache

A nice short walk up the hill of about 200m as the crow flies. With a number of car parks at the bottom. No need to climb. and to open the container is pretty self explanatory. The container could get damaged if hidden back incorrectly so use some common sense. Untie the higher knot, leave the lower knot as it is. Also put the pin back in the two holes at the side of the cache, Not in the crack in the wood. It is self explanatory once you get there. THE FOLLOWING STORY HAS A LOT OF SPOILERS IN IT, READ THIS AFTER YOU'VE FOUND THE CACHE Anyway the container has quite a story to tell. I first picked it up from someones hard rubbish pile three years ago and it was sitting in my garden doing nothing. After getting filled with spiders and getting very run down I decided to make it into a cache! First I knocked out the floor and cut the nails off then I cleaned the inside. I then added a hinge and patched up a few holes. Now it is quite a nice rustic little container.
