The Hong Kong Science Park.
The golden egg is the focal point of the Hong Kong Science Park which is located roughly halfway Tai Po and Sha Tin, along the waterfront of Tolo Harbour. It houses several technology-related companies, which enjoy favourable rent and facilities. The park has been set up to promote the development of research and development in Hong Kong.
Around the golden egg you will find some buildings housing a remarkably large array of restaurants. The whole area is pretty green, and well maintained. In weekends it's a draw to many locals, which is quite remarkable as besides the restaurants and the open space (mostly concreted, no grass to sit on or anything) there is nothing to do there. There are no recreational facilities, no children's playground, nothing of that.
A visit to the nearby Tolo Harbour promenade is also highly recommended. The cycling route along the harbour is very crowded on weekends, many people enjoying the relaxed ride and the beautiful views along the waterfront.
Getting there.
Science Park can be reached by KMB route 272K from University MTR, 272S from Diamond Hill MTR and 43P from Tsuen Wan MTR, by minibus 27 from Sha Tin MTR station, or by bicycle from either Tai Po or Sha Tin directions cycling along the Tolo Harbour waterfront.
Be stealthy; beware of muggles, especially security muggles who have nothing better to do than look for suspicious search activity by geocachers.
