Geocache Description:

WATCH OUT FOR FAST TRAFFIC SPEEDING BY

PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB ON THE TREES. THE GEOCACHE LOCATION DOES NOT REQUIRE THAT.

PLEASE READ HINT TO KNOW HOW BEST TO REPLACE

Note: I have set the "Terrain Difficulty" to 2 stars instead of 1.5 to call your attention to the traffic. There are not a lot of cars that come through here but there is also not a cross walk so be sure to look both ways if you cross the street.

Driving through this area, the trees are there for just a moment of time before you are beyond them. Even in that moment, though, you can sense the history and beauty of this old grove.

Immigrants worked at the lumber mill that used to be nearby and planted the Sycamore trees as part of a beautification project. From the early 1900s through the 1950s, the Weyerhaeuser Snoqualmie Falls Lumber Co. provided housing and services for more than 200 employees. Eventually the lumber mill was prosperous enough that residents were able to buy property farther from the mill. The town and many of the houses were dismantled and moved on flatbed trailers to new lots in Snoqualmie.

The Reinig Road Sycamore Corridor has been added to King County's Landmark Register.

History with above photos
This area is near the SVT (Snoqualmie Valley Trail) which has lots of fun geocaches along its route.

Parking and Muggles:
You can park near the junction with Southeast Reinig Road and Reinig Bridge or you can park at a dirt pull out next to a plaque that provides some history of the trees and the area. This pull out is at the West end of the grove and is on the South side of the road. The muggles who you should look out for will most likely be the ones driving by although in the Summer, this parking spot gets fairly busy with people parking for river access.

First To Find goes to faurenlink and very geeky
