En 1860, la ville achète, au prix de 20.565 francs la propriété DALARET-SOLIE, dite La Condamine située entre l'Avenue de Rodez et le chemin de Montplaisir afin d'en faire une promenade publique. Son étendue considérable qui allait jusqu'à l'ancienne institution St-Louis-de-Gonzagues, n° 35 de l‘avenue, et l'absence de toute autre promenade, engagère la municipalité à faire cet achat fort avantageux pour la ville.
Plus tard, une partie de ce terrain fut cédé au Département pour la construction de la Sous-Préfecture. mais c'est surtout l'établissement du chemin de fer et de la gare qui en prit la plus grande part, de telle sorte que la vaste promenade projetée en 1860, a été considérablement réduite et que le Square actuel, si agréable et si fréquenté, établi en 1876 sur la partie restante de la propriété communale, ne représente qu'une faible surface.
Des deux côtés de l‘entrée principale, se trouvent les oeuvres sculpturales de deux enfants de Millau : L’éducation Morale de VERDIER, qui se dressait autrefois place de la Fraternité et le buste du poète rouergat Claude PEYROT, inaugurée en 1909.
Attenant à l'hôpital Sainte-Anne, ce square de 5600m2 a été baptisé square André Malraux en 1996. Le jardin possède plusieurs arbres remarquables, dont un magnolia grandiflora et un celtis australis. Une fontaine, un bassin et une aire de jeux agrémentent le site. Un pigeonnier y a été installé au printemps 2010.

In 1860, the city buys for 20.565 franc the property DALARET-SOLIE, said Condamine situated between the Avenue of Rodez and the road of Montplaisir to make a public walk. Its considerable area which went to the old St-Louis-de-Gonzagues institution, n°35 of the avenue, and the absence of quite other walk, engagère the municipality to make this very advantageous purchase for the city.
Later, a part of this ground was given up to the Department for the construction of the Sub-prefecture. But it is especially the establishment of the railroad and of the station which more took part there, so that the vast walk planned in 1860, was considerably reduced and so that the current Public garden, so pleasant and so frequented, established in 1876 on the remaining part of the municipal property, represents only a low surface.
On both sides of the main entrance, are the sculptural works of two children of Millau: the Moral education of GREENFINCH, which raised itself formerly place of the Brotherhood and the bust of the poet rouergat Claude PEYROT, inaugurated in 1909.
Adjacent to the hospital Saint - Anne, this public garden of 5600m2 was baptized public garden André Malraux in 1996. The garden possesses several remarkable trees, a magnolia of which grandiflora and a celtis australis. A fountain, a pond and a playground decorate the site. A dovecote was installed in spring, 2010 there.
Opening from 7 am till 10 pm in summer, from 7:30 am till 8 pm in winter.
