Geocache Description:

this is a clip top box with a logsheet and pen in it and room for tb's and swaps... it is close to the old alcan factory and the canal ...stealth is required as it is abit in the open but with parking right next to it......

The aluminium plant"ALCAN" was crucial in the manufacture of new planes for the RAF, including its fleet of Spitfires.At that time the Northern Aluminium Company factory, known locally as "The Ally", was the UK's only major aluminium-rolling and extrusion plant, employing thousands of people.Without it the Battle of Britain could have been lost, changing the course of history.To protect the factory from enemy German aircraft the roof was camouflaged with paintings of fields.....closed in 2009 it is now rubble and will be a industrial park...
