Geocache Description:

Effin (Irish: Eifinn) is a townland & parish named after St Eimhin in County Limerick. It is on the R515 road, midway between Kilmallock and Charleville. The population of the parish is about 1,000. The parish lies in the heart of the Golden Vale, Munster's rich dairyland, and intensive dairying is practised there. Ballyhoura Mountains which separate County Limerick from County Cork, are at the southern end of the parish, see http://visitballyhoura.com/index.php/mountain-biking/

Effin is well known for its Hurling Team who won the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship in 2011 and are now Senior. They went from Junior to Intermediate to Senior in 11 months!. The old Effin Creamery makes award-winning Cheese which is a great Gift Item, see http://www.oldirishcreamery.com/about.htm.
Effin is also famous for its Battle Of Facebook. On November 2011, residents of Effin came into conflict with the Facebook website when they could not register Effin as their hometown. Since February 2012, the campaign was fully successful as Facebook users worldwide can now insert Effin, Co Limerick, Ireland as their hometown.
The cache is Wheelchair accessible and located near the Church and Hall in Effin.

Its worth noting that a few Geocachers have got stuck waiting at a Level Crossing, most likely their GPS sent them that way as its 'shorter'...whereas in fact the 'better' road is the R515 Charleville to Kilmallock Road and just outside of Charleville after the Kerry Foods Factory you will see a sign post for Effin & L1536 Road to your right which you take, stay on this road, over the High Bridge and turn Left at the sign for the Church.
It is a tube container containing; notebook, pencil
