Geocache Description:

Lang's lookout is located on top of Mt Alexander in Central Victoria.

Lang’s Lookout is located on top of Mount Alexander – a granite outcrop in Central Victoria. Close by are two high TV communications towers. Drive past the TV towers to the lookout parking area. Wait for other visitors to go before looking for the geocache. You do not have to remove anything to find the cache.

This point overlooks the plains country to the north and east and on a clear day, Bendigo is visible to the north. The lookout was named after Colonel Lang of Harcourt who, as president of the Automobile Club of Castlemaine, initiated the tourist road across the mountain from north to south. Better views are seen by scrambling over the large granite rocks, and if the visitor is quiet and alert, a Cunningham’s skink may be seen sunning itself. Be careful not to fall over.
The geocache is a black 1 litre container hidden near the lookout and TV towers. Once located, be sure to take in the view to the east and north from the lookout (by walking about 50 metres NE from the geocache down to the rock platform). Enjoy your visit and take binoculars and a camera.
