This is one of two caches I've placed within Matthews State Forest near Galax, VA. If you want to go for both of these caches, I highly recommend you find You Be The Judge before you find this one, for reasons that will become obvious afterwards.
This cache is located along a scenic and educational nature trail located within the State Forest. Along the trail are a series of information stations which describe the various plant species (primarily trees) located within the State Forest. The cache is located near the information station describing the Cucumbertree. It is a camouflaged plastic container with a screw top lid. It contains a logbook, pencil, and various tradeable items. From the trailhead parking area, follow the main trail until you reach the junction with "Jacks Knob Loop". Both ends of the loop arrive at this junction, and it's relatively the same distance going either way. I recommend you pick a course, find the cache, and then continue on in the same direction to complete the loop. The entire roundtrip distance from the parking area is less than a mile. Since this cache is located under heavy tree cover, GPS readings might be slightly off. Use the Cucumbertree information station as the starting point of your search.
