Gray Cloud on Blacktail Traditional Cache

Gray Cloud on Blacktail is a small traditonal cache that was placed while making a loop up from the Baldy Trailhead above Eagle River. From the trailhead we went up to Baldy and then proceeded along the 'flat' out to 'Shipwreck in the Chugach' and then on up the ridge to 'Blacktail Summit'. From there the loop we made was down to this cache site and down further and then back up to Baldy and finally back to the trailhead.
This outing started out as a 'finding' day but ended up being a 'hiding' day. Coloreido and I had 4 caches between us and we hid all 4 of them!!!! Oh and along the way, someone dropped an ammo can down a chute. It ended up over 500 feet down the chute and over a tenth of a mile away...but that is another story!!!
The loop we made was right at 9 miles and the vertical ascent on my gps showed 3500 ft. This may be a bit high but know that you will have significant elevation gain if you make the same loop!
The cache is a yellow watertight cell phone dry box that measures 6 in x 1-5/8 in x 3 in. The cache is packed with a few items you might need along the trail.
The cache is placed under Chugach State Park Permit #12-004.
Keep your eyes on the lookout for Ptarmigan. They are all over in this area!
This area is a great place to visit. From here and the surrounding caches the views are excellent. It takes a bit to get here but you wont be disappointed!
