General Trapier's Beard Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ninja Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

History of this spot: General James H. Trapier (the road’s name sake), 2nd in his class at West Point, fought in the Mexican/Indian War and late in life, when the Civil War began, he sided with his native SC and eventually served as a Confederate General. At one time he was charged with overseeing the fortifications of the Charleston Harbor during the Civil War.
The Cache: This tree has an unusual amount of Spanish Moss, thus I named it “General Trapier’s Beard” as though he is still keeping watch.  This is the first view of Morris Island and the light house as you come down Trapier Dr.  Enjoy the view of Morris Island Light house.. maybe even stroll out to the end of the road for even better views of the harbor.  Although you can’t see it, the end of this road is arguably as close as you can physically get to Fort Sumter without a boat or swim.
