COVERED BRIDGES
At one time there were over 10,000 covered bridges in the United States, and today 54 of the remaining 750 are located in New Hampshire. Located throughout the state, each bridge is unique to its town and design. Because of their beauty and the history behind them, covered bridges became the first type of historic structures specifically protected by state law in New Hampshire.

Nissitissit Bridge in Brookline,
New Hampshire is a pedestrian covered bridge painted in red and white. Half of the bridge (46 feet) was original owned by the Covered Bridge Craft Store in Nashua, NH. The store closed and the bridge was donated in 2001 to the town of Brookline, NH. The town extended the bridge to a total length of 110 feet and placed it over the Nissitissit River near Lake Potanipo. The bridge sits on three concrete abutments (four spans) that were formerly part of an old Boston and Maine Railroad bridge which was used by the Fresh Pond Ice Company at Lake Potanipo.

In 2006 the Cosmopolitan Magazine put Nissitissit Bridge on a list of the sexiest spots in the country and labeled it New Hampshire's "loveliest kissing bridge".
You'll find the bridge on the south side along Mason Rd and around 300 feet west of the intersection of Route 13 and Mason Rd in Brookline, NH. Parking space is available next to the bridge.
I think it is a great place to visit so enjoy your trip!
