the Delaware County and Town of Kortright sections of NYS Route 10 was originally part of a series of Native American trails leading from near Kingston to the area of Fort Niagara. The roadway itself evolved from a foot-path to a cordaroy road to a stage road and then on to become one of the first roads to be cleared by a mechanized snowplow. During the course of it's evolution the roadway itself has moved up and down the valley floor and hillsides.
You are looking for a small cache along the old roadway. Use care walking along the actual roadway, park well inside of the white fog line.
