Geocache Description:

A Quick and easy P&G! BYOP!

Ruth Opien Union lady)
The Credit Union began in 1943 with 21 members. It originated with the Jackson Project and the Co-op Store. In April of 1963, a program was formed at the school by Mrs. Ruth Opien to open accounts for the students. Once a week, Mrs. Opien would bring a cash box to the school so students could make deposits to “the credit union lady”, as they called her. The Credit Union’s first office was in the back room of the Co-op Store, located next to the locker plant. It operated in several locations near the intersection of LaVaque Road and Highway 53 before moving in to its current location in 2003. On March 26, 1993, the Credit Union celebrated 50 years of service. We do have permission from the current business owner to place this cache. This is Cache #7 on Kaylee's fabulous geocaching voyage that is a part of her Girl Scout Silver Award Project.
