Located within Wall Doxey State Park.
Spring Lake is near the headwaters of Little Spring Creek, which is fed by numerous natural springs from the surrounding steep hills. The lake here dates back more than 150 years. Around the year 1840 this land was owned by a William Lumpkin who had built a dam and a large 4 story grist mill near what is now the north end of the lake. The mill was ravaged and burnt down during the Civil War.An oil painting of that old mill may still be found in the foyer of the park lodge. The CCC began converting the site into a state park on June 25 1935, it was opened to the public in 1938 under the original name of Spring Lake State Park;however it was later renamed after U.S. Representative Wall Doxey who resided in nearby Holly Springs.
You will need a boat or similiar vessel to reach this cache. Per state law PFDs are required to be worn.
There is a small boat launch fee that will also cover entry into the park .
The park is day use only unless you are camping here.
The cache is a medium sized bison tube.
