Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. The posted coordinates are the starting point for this Letterbox Hybrid cache. To find the cache container, a regular sized lock and lock, you will need to follow the directions on the cache page.

This is the seventh of a series of easy, kid friendly caches based on the colors of light. Write down the codes contained in each cache to be able to find the series final. Each will have some relation to the color in the cache title and will contain two code numbers to be used in finding the series final - White - Color of Light, since white light is composed of all colors of light. Be sure to record these code numbers.

Violet and her father were out for a walk. As they continued their walk southeast along Oakbrook Drive, Violet spied a speed limit sign.

"We learned about the speed of light in school yesterday", she told her father. "If you add 7 more zeroes to that sign, you would have the speed of light in meters/sec."

Her father stopped at the crosswalk and carefully looked both ways before they crossed to the north side of the street. "What else did you learn about light" he asked.

As they continued, heading east, Violet replied, "We learned about how white light contains other colors of light. It can be broken up like a rainbow if you use a prism. I learned that the color of visible light with the shortest wavelength is Violet, just like my name."

"Well, it must be the prettiest color of light then, just like my little girl and her favorite flowers", her dad replied.

Violet just smiled. She and her dad continued walking and chatting for a couple of minutes. They were coming up to an entrance to Cranbrook Park. They decided to head north into the park. After passing the building on the left, they continued down the paved path. Just before coming up to a nice bench, her dad asked Violet if she wanted to rest. "No, let's take a walk through the woods", she replied.

They turned northeast onto a path into the woods. Violet and her father continued over two metal plates, and many molded sections on the ground that looked like bricks, but were really made of plastic. The path came to a large maple tree and then jogged to the right. They continued down the path until it ended at a "T", with a forked tree at the T-junction.

"Let's go to the right" Violet said. They had walked 15 steps along the right path, when they noticed a large tree that looked like it had been twisted over. They went to investigate and realized that this would be a nice hiding spot for a letterbox hybrid cache.

Violet and her dad later came back with a clear lock and lock container and placed a cache in honor of their nice afternoon together. Since this was to be a letterbox cache, they placed a larger log book, as well as a stamp pad, and Violet's signature stamp. The stamp and pad are not to be trade items, but used to stamp your letterbox journal, if you so desire. Please seal the ink pad after use and remember to leave the stamp in the cache. In the letterbox tradition, you may stamp the logbook with your own personal stamp, or just sign your name indicating you were there. Remember to write down the code numbers from the front of the log book.

After tracing your path back though the woods to the paved path, you may head south to go back the way you came, or if you are up for a little longer walk, continue northwest on the paved path. This path goes from one end of Cranbrook Park to the other and will come out at the north end of Oakbrook Drive. If you turn left and then walk south along Oakbrook you will be back to your starting point.

This cache was placed with permission of the Ann Arbor Parks and Natural Area department.

FTF prize is a Violet colored LED flashlight. FTF goes to HelloLola.
