THE POOR GEORGIE CACHE
July, 2012
Captain George Vancouver was an English officer of the British Royal Navy, best known for his 1791-95 expedition when he charted the coast of British Columbia.

Now, back in the 1700’s while Georgie was charting our BC coastline he might have been able to afford a home in the West Vancouver area.  Thank goodness he isn’t trying to buy a home here NOW!

Average house prices in West Vancouver start well above $1 million dollars and waterfront mansions sell in the $5-$10 million dollar range.

Even a small apartment or condo might be too much for our Georgie today. Most water view condominiums start at $2 million. One and two bedroom apartments with easy access to the beach often start in the high $800,000 dollar range. Ouch and Double Ouch!!

Today, poor Georgie would probably need to find a special cache (a hidden treasure) if he wanted to finance a house in this city – a city that is actually NAMED AFTER HIM!

Listen!  We think we hear Captain George Vancouver turning over in his grave…
