The Pi'd Hiker Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

KongoCache: I have been informed that all cache owners with cache's in Roland Park have been asked to remove them until a policy can be put in place. As this this has had pretty low traffic, and as I am now in Florida, I think I will just archive this once. Thanks to all the people who took the time to try and/or find this one. I really enjoyed making it. It was my very first.

Happy Caching.

Geocache Description:

Yes call me a math geek (I've been called worse) - I like numbers, especially the number pi (you know 3.141…).  I also love hiking.  Hence this puzzle cache. None of the clues require any math, just good internet searching skills.  The posted coordinates are the trailhead, and the solved coordinates are about a 1 mile hike in.  No bushwacking required if you find the correct side-path.

Two tickets to the Charles Theatre in the container for the FTF!

NOTE: In talking about the digits of pi - it is standard convention to only count the digits to the right of the decimal point

A:  I was not known until August of 2010.  While there is nothing special about my position, humans find it pleasing that is has 12 zeros.

B: I am the first, and only one to the left of the decimal point. Even back in BC, they knew me.

C: In 1958 they used an IBM 70C to get to 10,000 digits.

*D: In January of 2010, Fabrice Bellard, briefly held the record for most digets calculated at almost 2.D trillion decimal places. What was noteworthy was that he did it on his desktop PC!

*E: At E839 O'Donnell St, Baltimore, MD you will find nothing but pies (and mighty good ones IMHO)

F: Alas, poor Rutherford, he thought he had calculated 208 digits of pi, but got it wrong starting with digit 15F.

G: I am the 483243 digit of pi

H: William Shanks calculated by hand the most digits of pi of anyone. He spent H5 years of his life on the first 707 digits, unfortunately, from 528 on, they were all wrong (Daniel Ferguson actually calculated the most correct digits, 620).

*I: In November 2005 Chao Lu correctly recited 6I,890 digits of pi *from memory*.  (It took him a little over 24 hours) He was actually going for 91,000 but he made a mistake on the next digit.

*J: If you go to position 36488176 you will see a lot of me.

*Clues changed since the original puzzle

Hope you enjoy your hike.  This is probably my dogs favorite hiking spot.
