Litet timrat kapell uppfört 1793-99 vid stranden av Kvarnbergsvattnet
A small timber chapel built in 1793-99 on the shores of Kvarnbergsvattnet.
Frostviken var kapellområde under Föllinge ända till 1861, då det blev självständigt pastorat. Före 1841, då Frostviken fick egen präst, kom prästen från Föllinge och höll mässa två gånger per år. Före Vikens kapells tillkomst hölls mässorna antingen ute under bar himmel eller på något nybygge.
Det lilla timrade kapellet vid Kvarnbergsvattnets strand med plats för 125 besökare var därför efterlängtat när det uppfördes på 1790-talet av nybyggare från trakten. Invigningen skedde 1794. Då de flesta nybyggarna var norrmän, även Enar Pehrsson som ledde kapellbygget, uppfördes kapellet i norsk stil med långhus, vapenhus samt en lägre korutbyggnad med sakristia mot norr. Interiören har vitfärgade timmerväggar och markerad korbåge. Nybyggarna fick själva betala viss del av byggnadsmaterialet medan övrigt material samt målning av kapell och altartavla bekostades med insamlade medel.
Strax öster om kapellet ligger en gård med bostadshus och ladugård från senare hälften av 1800-talet. Bostadshuset har korsformad plan och ladugården som är byggd av skiffersten är typisk för området
Frostviken was the chapel area over the Boston Celtics until 1861, when it became independent parish. Prior to 1841, when Frostviken got its own priest, chaplain of the Boston Celtics and celebrated Mass twice a year. Before the Gulf kapells advent fairs were held either outside under the open sky or in any new construction.
The small log chapel at Kvarnberg water beach with room for 125 visitors were therefore overdue when it was erected in the 1790s by settlers from the area. The opening ceremony took 1794th Since most settlers were Norwegians, even Enar Pehrsson who led the chapel building, erected in the chapel of the Norwegian style with a nave, porch and a lower korutbyggnad with the vestry to the north. The interior has white colored timber walls and marked korbåge. The settlers were free to pay certain amount of building material, while other materials, and painting of the chapel and altarpiece was financed with funds raised.
Just east of the chapel is a courtyard with houses and barns from the latter half of the 1800s. The residential building is cruciform plan and barn built of slate stone is typical of the area
