Geocache Description:

Do not look in the crypt or in the stone wall! You are looking for a trusty, rusty old ammo can! Woo hoo! You read it right! A good old ammo can!

It’s Friday the 13th and after hearing that one my most beloved places had a geocache get archived I thought I would honor Mercy Brown with a nice big ammo box!

Mercy Brown was a young lady who died of tuberculosis back in the late 1800’s. But that is the key. The late 1800’s! By then most people knew about tuberculosis and how it killed people. We are now lucky enough to have a microscope to help us identify the culprits that make us sick. Tuberculosis is contagious and that is why it would go through and “kill off” a small farming family. Without science and this knowledge, superstitions run free and our brain makes connections that seem to make sense. So it made sense a long time ago to search for a “vampire” or spirit and try to kill something that was already dead. It had to be terrifying to not know who was going to be next.

This cache is placed near Mercy’s crypt. Her body was stored here before her burial. Wander near the middle of the cemetery and you will see her headstone. So many people visit her stone that grass cannot grow in front of it. There are always unusual objects placed near her stone. For example, someone left a “fun size” Milky Way bar. Mercy is surrounded by family forever. Her Dad and Mom and her sister and her brother Edwin are interred here. Edwin was the one who had to drink a concoction of water and ashes from Mercy’s burned heart in order to save his life. But Tuberculosis won.

Pay attention while you are caching here. Weird things happen. A long time ago, after sunset I saw a blue light hovering near the trees which has been seen for generations. On the day I hid the cache I lost my car keys, heard a large dog ferociously bark and growl across the street and my car did not start back up after I found my keys. (I dropped my keys near the cache site).

Happy Friday the 13th and Happy Caching!

I took coords with my new smartphone gps app. Let me know if there are problems! Thanks.

there were plenty of problems with the coords! I updated them thanks to Patsfan2071. Congratulations to Adventurist1 on the FTF! Happy caching to all! (if you see a blue orbish light, let me know. Thanks!)

Please hide the can back in the same spot and hide it! Some weird things happen here and I don't really want to check on it all the time! (do not look for this at night- you are not allowed to and it's very creepy)
