This golden ammo can was placed to honor 2 CBR's 5000th find.
2 CBR has been caching since February 28 of 2003. He has cached in 42 states and 4 provinces, he has 17 hides, most of which are unique and / or interesting. He has attended 14 CITOs and is always willing to lend a hand to promote geocaching at local outdoors events.
2 CBR has also served as the Treasurer of GONIL for the last three years, attending monthly meetings and lending his expertise to the group.
There's another way that 2 CBR helps the local caching community......
He spends a LOT of his time explaining geocaching to Law Enforcement Officers.
Badlands and I realized a while ago that if you're caching with 2 CBR you're going to have a LEO encounter, maybe not that day but the effect is strong enough that if you don't have one while you're out caching with him, you'll likely run into a police officer or FPD official the next day.
Here are some quotes.....
GCT1A5 Atkinson
We arrived here after dark, there weren’t any posted hours at the entrance. So we figured there shouldn't a problem. But this little indiscretion gave us the opportunity to explain the sport of geocaching to a very understanding police officer. TFTC
GC1N7XN Backroads Cache - NOT the bridges of Madison Co.
Here's where we got to tell Manhattan police what we were up to in their town. Didn't seem to bother them, they left us alone to keep searching.
GC1BDB3 Just off the trail 2
The Cook County Forest Preserve Police officer was wondering what this group of ten was doing out on this 24 degree morning.
And of course....
GCPKXV Up in the Air O'Hare
Two plainclothes Chicago Police Department officers exited the vehicle with weapons drawn. One officer yelled “what’s in your hand”, I said “a GPS”.
"So after being detained for about a half hour I was told that “technically this is not a restricted area and that I hadn’t broken any rules but the Police Commander says that I must vacate the area immediately”. Which I promptly did..."
So in honor of 2 CBR safely finding 5000 caches, badlands and I have created this LEO themed cache. Don't forget to congratulate him when you log your find!
