An easy two part educational puzzle cache in Oil Creek State Park placed with DCNR approval. The posted coords bring you to the informational sign. Answer a few questions to get the coords for the final location. The cache container is a small camo painted jar with a screw cap which contains only a log in a plastic bag. It might hold a few small trade goods, but is not big enough to hold a pen, so bring your own pen to sign the log.
This is a two part puzzle cache. The coords at the top of the page take you to two informational signs where you must answer questions to determine the coords for the final stage.
The GPS coordinates for the final stage are: N41* 30.AAB W 79* 40.CD8
To assist you fill in the numbers here: N41* 30. ___ ___ ___ W79* 40. ___ ___ 8
A = The number of bat drawings or silhouettes (not photos) on both signs minus 1 (don’t count photos and look closely!)
B = Look at the drawing labeled “Bat Anatomy” and NOT counting the thumb, how many fingers make up a bat wing? (Don’t count back leg either)
C = How many species of bats does Pennsylvania host?
D = In the drawing of a standard bat house on the sign, how many roosting crevices are shown in that drawing? (They are labeled “Roosting Crevices.”)
Once you find the numbers represented by the letters, fill them into the slots provided above and then enter the coords into your gps to find the final stage! If your new coordinates take you to a spot over 0.1 mile away from the interpretive signs, then you did something wrong at the first stage. Go back to Bat School and try again. Happy Caching!
