While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

Geocaches which have not been maintained or the owner has not responded will not be taken out of the archive

Geocache Description:

Åndalsnes from the sea

The cache is hidden at a temporary location due to construction work in the area. As soon as they're finished, I will move the cache back to its original location.

Geocachen er plassert på det som kalles for Stamnesodden, på tippen av Åndalsnes sentrum. Dette er som sagt det ytterste punktet av Åndalsnes sentrum, og herifra har man en kjempefin 270° panoramautsikt over fjorden og fjellene. Ta med kamera, gode geocacheevner og still deg ytterst på brygga og nyt den norske naturen på sitt beste.
Og ikke bli forbauset om du plutselig blir møtt av et stort cruiseskip, da Stamnesodden brygge er noe av det første som cruisebåtturistene ser når de seiler innover Romsdalsfjorden og inn i Åndalsnes sentrum.
Stamnesodden brygge egner seg også perfekt for fisking, da man kommer i nærkontakt med vannet på alle kanter, så ikke glem fiskestanga hjemme!

Stamnesodden og resten av Åndalsnes' sjøfront er for tiden mye omtalt og diskutert da det har vært en arkitektkonkurranse hvor oppdraget var å redesigne Åndalsnes' sjøfront. Dette resulterte i 40 innsendte forslag. Så om noen år vil denne bryggen sannsynligvis være borte, og erstattet av noe nytt som skal heve kvaliteten ved Åndalsnes sentrum.

En mulig fremtid

Når det gjelder cachen så må du være forsiktig når du legger cachen på plass, du må også huske å legge den på akkurat samme sted etter endt logging. For de som synes at det er vanskelig å få loggen ut av boksen, så skal det ligge en pinsett i cachen som kan være til hjelp. Man kan også finne denne cachen om man kommer i båt, uten å legge til. To dager etter at jeg publiserte cachen så ble det satt opp en port som stenger cachen inne på visse tider av døgnet. Dette er hvis du leter fra land. Håper og tror derimot at dette bare er en provisorisk løsning... Cachen kan fortsatt finnes lett ved hjelp av båt! Happy hunting!

The Geocache is located at a placed called Stamnesodden, on the tip of Åndalsnes city center. It is the outermost point of Åndalsnes city center, and from this point you'll have a beautiful 270° view over the fjords and the mountains. Remember to bring your camera, good geocaching skills and position yourself at the tip of the pier and enjoy the norwegian nature at its best.
And don't get suprised if a cruice ship suddenly sails infront of you, because Stamnesodden pier is something of the first the tourists spot when they sail into the Romsdalsfjord and into Åndalsnes city center.
Stamnesodden pier is also a perfect fishing spot, so do not forget you're fishing rod at home!

Stamnesodden and the rest of Åndalsnes' waterfront is currently widely discussed and debated as it has been an architectural competition where the assignment was to redesign Åndalsnes's waterfront. This resulted in 40 submitted proposals. So in a few years, this pier will probably be gone and replaced by something new that will help improve the quality of Åndalsnes city center.


When it comes to the geocache itself, you need to be careful when replacing the cache, and also you'll have to remember to replace it at exacly the same spot after finished logging. For those who have been having problems with a stuck log book, I've put a tweezer inside the cache, that could come in handy. This cache could also be found if you come by boat, without having to dock.
Two days after I published the cache, someone installed a gate in front of the caching area, which is closed during spesific hours of the day. But you can still find the cache 24/7 from a boat! I both hope and think that this is just a temporary solution... Happy hunting!
