Another favourite of The Georges River. It is not easy to get to, it starts out as easy but the track down can get slippery and the cache requires a bit of a climb. Once there you'll find a beach, wire swing, even chairs for the fireplace, and great swimming. Not for the young kids, unless you are carefull.
I chose the long way to get to it; but, I think it worth the effort. The car park is next to the Russian Orthodox Retirment Village, and is the beginning of another cache - The Time Warp.
Go to the end of the road, take a right then left then left and head north along the fire trail, parrallel to the river and the village. Arriving at "The Creek" waypoint, follow the rough foot track down next to the creek. Be careful, it gets a bit slippery. Almost at the bottom, look for a rock crossing of the creek and do so. Here you come across the swimming hole section of the river, complete with wire swing, fireplace and 5 outdoor furniture seats. An overhang is behind the fireplace.
In years gone by I have seen a wooden ramp on the beach for the kids to zoom down the beach and launch themselves, and skateboard, into the river. I was amazed at the effort expended in bringing all the stuff down to make the ramp. It is no longer there.
A great spot for a moonlight swim and an wine or two on a hot summers night - I can testify to that...
The cache is tucked away so the local kids cannot find it easily. It will require a scramble to find it.
Half way down there is a faint foot track off to the right. If you take that on the way back you eventually find the remain of an old shack built into a large overhang, complete with cooking utensils, mattress and a picture of the Virgin Mary.
