Located about 17 miles NW of Cle Elum at the site where an L-4 Fire Lookout Cabin stood from 1932 to 1948.
Not for the faint of heart, the trail gains 3,000' in 2 1/2 miles, then drops 300' just to gain it back again along the ridge.
There are two stream crossings with views of several small waterfalls, but bring plenty of water, cause I'm not convinced it runs year round. Although very chilly, it's very refreshing on a warm day.
Deer, rabbit and goats are active in the area and ~4,800' there appears to be an active mine.
The cache is a small lock-n-lock located at the base of a tree. Remnants of the tower are minimal, most of which are small amounts of wire around a rock or board easily overlooked.
